Mountain West College in Salt Lake City, Utah is now known as Everest College. Everest offers students career-focused education in a variety of in-demand careers.
History of Mountain West College
In 1982, Mountain West College was founded as Mountain West Computer School. This college was subsequently purchased in 1983 and was then called Mountain West College of Business and Technology. In November of 1987, candidacy for accreditation for Junior College Status was granted.
In September of 1989, Phillips Colleges, Inc. acquired Mountain West Junior College. In March 1990, Mountain West Junior College changed its name to Phillips Junior College.
In October 1996, the college was acquired by Rhodes Colleges, Inc., and the name of the college was changed to Mountain West College in recognition of the institution’s history of excellence in training and education in the Salt Lake City area. In February of 2006, the name of the college was changed to Everest College.

Everest campuses primarily offer curriculum in Health Care, Business, and Criminal Justice. Popular career training programs include:
- Business Degree Program
- Criminal Justice Degrees
- Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Program
- Pharmacy Technician
- Medical Assistant
These programs are taught by experienced instructors.
Everest also offers students the opportunity to earn their degree online. The online Criminal Justice degree program and online business programs are some of our more convenient programs where classes can be taken online. (Not all programs are available online.)
